Go Kart Challenge 2018

The Go Cart derby for 2018 was a great thrill to all of us and the excitement to get home to start making them. My kart was one of the slowest but when we got to the high hill it was much better. I also had a go on Zania's one because she wasn't there it was a lot faster than my one.

Wellington camp 2018

The Camp was an amazing experience and we went to some amazing places. My favourite place was Te Papa and the big Gallipoli expedition I also liked the big Stag in the Blood, Earth and Fire level. I liked Parliament and the art was cool!

Wellington Camp

Wellington Camp

On Sunday morning we said goodbye to our Parents and got onto the bus, that was the thing that I was least looking forward to. Our first stop was at Te Karaka to pick up 2 of our classmates and one of our cool Parents for the trip, then we were of to Napier for lunch. The surroundings were amazing we also watched a couple of movies along the way too. The last stop was in Dannevirke then we were in Wellington unpacking our bags. First we went to Parliament and we got taken around by a cool man called William Davies it was very very interesting and the artworks were amazing. Then we quickly walked to the Cable Cars and had a cool ride up to the Wellington Botanical Gardens we had lunch there and then walked down to Te Papa. The exhibitions were mind blowing and sooo realistic it was like looking at real alive creatures, seriously not joking. We went back to Silver Stream Retreat and had an amazing dinner.

The next day we went to Weta Caves it was amazing though it looked a little bit weird it was hard to imagine that all of the props had been in movies. In the movies the guns and swords look real but really there just plastic or really blunt metal. The Zoo was cool with all the animals and wondering which animal one to go to next. The Giraffes and Lions were amazing and so big they were like giants. The Tiger that I could see was so big and muscly it was amazing. The Monkeys were so cool, the best fact was about Capuchin Monkeys that they rub onion all over them to keep insects away!

Zealandia was cool but it was a bit like home, it was cool to see a Kaka up close and see their colourful red feathers. The Kererus looked like they had been feeding well because they were so fat! Then we went to Jumparama we got given special socks with grip on the bottom to help not to slip over. We had 1 hour to jump around and do as many flips as we could there was even a olympic size tramp that was super bouncy! There was a cool place to bounce up and play basketball and a foam pit where you could bounce in to it and do flips and the wall next to it had a climbing wall. It was a cool fun experience because it was the first time I had been in a tramp park I was surprised that it made me really tired and sweat lots!

The next day we got up really early to get onto the Fairy, It was huge. There was so much to explore there was a cool shop and a machine that if you put ten cents in it would squish it into a boat as a souvenir! On the way there I got pretty sea sick and went all green and white but I made it to the south Island fine, first we went to a museum in Picton because we didn't have our bus we had to walk there but it was real short, the Museum had the 9th oldest ship in the world there! It was amazing we got to go on board and that was pretty cool. Then we watched a little movie and then went to an Aquarium we got to touch a Tuatara and feed a couple of fish. Then we were back onto a different ship and had tea on it we could have fish and chips or chicken nuggets and chips. The trip back was smooth and cool. It felt nice to be back on dry land we had an late night then we had a sleepy bus ride back home.

weta caves writing

We were learning about Wellington and the places in it, my place was Weta Caves and we did a inquiry about it and then write a made up story about our place, here is my story.

Weta Caves
Here I was my first night at my job, it was a cold, dark night, I was already weary and tired. The good thing is I have the coolest job in NZ because to come and see this place cost $30, I get in for free and get paid for doing it, so I think it’s a bargain. I only have a flashlight to see. I was walking around the corner to my office it was 12:00 am the moon was full and shining right through the window lighting up my office when I heard a sound like a crack. I turned around and turned my torch on there was nothing there, I thought to myself, maybe it came from outside. I kept on walking, I sat down, I hear the same noise, a crack, this is very strange.

I stood up and went for a walk around and all I could see was the animals and all the other creepy looking sculptures but when I turned my back I heard those crack noises again.
I turned back around all those big ugly and beautiful sculptors that one second ago were standing as statues were now looking at me, blinking and staring. Then all of a sudden the big ogar looking thing said “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE”!!!!!! “I am the night keeper of this place”. “WELL GET YOUR BUT OUT”!   “Ok, ok, I'm going”. I sprinted away as fast as my legs would take me to my office and locked the door and then rang the police I told them about the monsters and them being alive the man I was talking to didn’t believe me so he hung up. I hid under my desk and waited for a couple of minutes then I heard loud pumping rock music so I had a  quick look I could see the Ogre and his friends having a party and the Ogar was doing the caterpillar! I quickly leaned out of the window off my office and yelled, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING YA BIG FATTY'S”! And then as soon as I said that, all those animals returned to were they used to be and stood still.
I unlocked the door as slow as I could trying not to make any noise at all walking down the little hall everything was silent, when I got to the end I turned my light on they were all ready to pounce on me so I sprinted even faster than last time back into my office. This time I finally got the police to come. It was right when the police pulled up when this batman looking creature knocked on my door. “What do you want” “One question please sir said the bat, “What the heck are these blue smurfy soldiers doing here”? “They’re the police.” Who are the police” ” They look after the world” So what were like babies to them? Yeah kind of.

Imagine a Night

Imagine A Night
Imagine a night That never ended, were harmless stone sculptors turned into fierce nightmares that people only can dream of seeing.

Imagine a night a cold and dark place your weary and tired but your at the coolest job in the world

Imagine a night Where you can hear cracks and strange noises with shadows lurking around in the darkness.

Imagine a night where you see a huge ogre staring at you and then out of the blue he yells something that humankind will never understand.

Imagine a night where the moon was so bright It was like you had all your lights on inside your house.

Imagine a night when the sun stayed in the sky The moon stretched and forced the try and pull the sun down to take his position in the night sky.

I liked this writing because we could use our imagination as well as our made up story's that we write from our factual writing. I based it on Weta Caves in Wellington as we are going there for camp in two days.

Maths reflection

This task was fun and I think everybody really enjoyed it. Doing reflectional symmetry was a challenge but it was mixed with art to make it fun. All the patterns were very cool and unique. Adding colour was great and made our creations look alive. Reflectional symmetry is when a shape is mirrored across a line of symmetry.
